ERIC HYNYNEN
Eric Hynynen (pronounced hoo-noo-nen) is a Finnish-Australian visual artist living in Boorloo (Perth).

Eric captures a humanity that connects people with art and is best known for his bold, thought provoking paintings. Drawing from Eric’s years residing in Finland, his work is informed by Nordic minimalism.

Hynynen works across painting, video and installation. His practice navigates a broad range of subject matter including, Nature, social commentary, man made systems and recycling.

Eric’s work is shown in galleries and film festivals in Australia and abroad. Eric’s short film
The Finn was a finalist in The Celeste Prize in New York. Hynynen was awarded a large scale billboard commission by The City of Joondalup, as well as the acquisitive prize at The Minnawarrra Art Awards. His paintings have been selected as best painting twice at The City of Wanneroo Art Awards. Eric's works are held in public and private collections nationally and internationally.

Hynynen has a Master of Fine Arts from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts, Helsinki, Finland.

Sherwood won the residential house category at the prestigious Society of British and International Design (SBID) Awards 2024, with their interior design project Casablanca.
